Lee Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Cherokee

Boater Joe Lee of Knoxville, Tenn., caught a two-day total of 10 bass weighing 23 pounds, 9 ounces to win the Sept. 17-18 BFL Volunteer Division tournament on Lake Cherokee to earn $4,604. Bobby Drinnon of Rogersville, Tenn., was the highest-placing co-angler in the Sept. 17-18 Volunteer Division event, earning $2,302.  Lee was using a Strike King crankbait while fishing in creek channels.

WHAT:              Bobby Drinnon of Rogersville, Tenn., caught a two-day total of four bass weighing 10 pounds, 10 ounces Sept. 17-18 to win $2,302 in the Co-angler Division.  Drinnon also fished in creek channels, but used a jig to catch his bass.

NOTES:            The top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 13-15 Regional Championship on Smith Mountain Lake in Huddleston, Va. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
