Applegate Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Greers Ferry

HEBER SPRINGS, Ark. – Huey Applegate of Jessieville, Ark., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 12 pounds, 2 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Arkie Division tournament on Greers Ferry Lake. For his victory, Applegate earned $3,418.

    

     Rounding out the top 10 pros were:

          2nd:   Kerry Barnett, Waldron, Ark., five bass, 11-9, $1,709

          3rd:   Dennis Bean, Hot Springs, Ark., five bass, 11-3, $1,138

          4th:    Adam Wright, Benton, Ark., five bass, 11-1, $798

          5th:    Dulin Smith, Little Rock, Ark., five bass, 11-0, $684

          6th:    David Ellis, Leola, Ark., five bass, 10-8, $627

          7th:    Shawn Gordon, Russellville, Ark., five bass, 10-7, $570

          8th:    Shane Hipp, Edgemont, Ark., five bass, 10-2, $484

          9th:    Brad Smith, Hartford, Ark., five bass, 10-2, $484

          10th: Quincy Houchin, Mabelvale, Ark., five bass, 9-15, $399

     Joe Coble of Malvern, Ark., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 11 pounds, 3 ounces Saturday to win $1,709 in the co-angler division.

     Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

          2nd:   Bart Batchelor, Poyen, Ark., five bass, 9-13, $855

          3rd:    Daniel Ward, Hoxie, Ark., five bass, 9-11, $570

          4th:    Todd Bray, Glen Rose, Ark., five bass, 8-14, $399

          5th:    Stan Cullipher, Malvern, Ark., four bass, 8-4, $342

          6th:    Don Billiot, Bryant, Ark., five bass, 8-0, $313

          7th:    Jeff Reece, Casa, Ark., four bass, 7-14, $285

          8th:    Donnie Adams, Little Rock, Ark., five bass, 7-12, $256

          9th:    Pete Clark, Malvern, Ark., five bass, 7-9, $228

          10th:  Dale Clark, Malvern, Ark., four bass, 7-6, $199

     The next BFL Arkie Division tournament is scheduled for June 2 on Lake Dardanelle in Russellville, Ark. After the fifth Arkie Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 18-20 Regional Championship on the Red River in Natchitoches, La. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
