Shaffer Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament On The Ohio River

Boater Dick Shaffer of Rockford, Ohio, caught a five-bass limit weighing 9 pounds, 8 ounces to win the July 16 BFL Hoosier Division bass fishing tournament on the Ohio River to earn $4,037.  Jacob Lynch of Centerpoint, Ind., was the winning co-angler at the July 16 BFL Hoosier Division tournament, earning $2,019. Shaffer used shad color crankbaits in shallow creeks approximately 1 to 6 feet deep.

WHAT:              Jacob Lynch of Centerpoint, Ind., caught a five-bass limit weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces July 16 to win $2,019 in the Co-angler Division.  Lynch fished slowly using spinnerbaits and jigs in the main river at depths ranging from 12 to 20 feet.

NOTES:            The next BFL Hoosier Division tournament is scheduled for August 27 on the Ohio River at Rocky Point in Cannelton, Ind. After the fifth Hoosier Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the October 20-22 Regional Championship on the Barren River in Scottsville, Ky. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger 198VX with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy pick-up, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger 198VX.
