Sykora Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament On Lake Of The Ozarks

OSAGE BEACH, Mo. – Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Mo., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 26 pounds, 4 ounces Saturday to win the Walmart Bass Fishing League Ozark Division bass fishing tournament on Lake of the Ozarks. For his victory, Sykora earned $5,235.

    

Rounding out the top 10 pros were:

Boater Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Mo., won the March 24 BFL Ozark Division event on Lake of the Ozarks with a total catch of 26 pounds, 4 ounces.

          2nd:   John Bach, Salem, Mo., five bass, 22-10, $2,118

          3rd:    Jeremy Lawyer, Sarcoxie, Mo., five bass, 22-5, $1,413

          4th:    Michael Stetich, Omaha, Neb., five bass, 20-1, $988

          5th:    Wes Endicott, Joplin, Mo., five bass, 19-12, $847

          6th:    Tom Silber, Labadie, Mo., five bass, 18-11, $776

          7th:    Dennis Berhorst, Holts Summit, Mo., five bass, 18-9, $706

          8th:    Jason Cordiale, Orinda, Calif., five bass, 18-5, $635

          9th:    Cory Steckler, Rocky Mount, Mo., five bass, 17-12, $565

Vernon Jaycox of Lake Ozark, Mo., weighed in three bass totaling 13 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday to win $2,118 in the co-angler division.

          7th:    Drew Barnes, Bella Vista, Ark., four bass, 11-0, $353

          8th:    Dennis Spell, Desloge, Mo., three bass, 10-10, $318

          9th:    Richard Johnson, Lee’s Summit, Mo., two bass, 9-11, $282

          10th: William Hoffert, Columbia, Mo., three bass, 9-7, $247

The next BFL Ozark Division tournament is scheduled for April 21 on Stockton Lake in Stockton, Mo. After the fifth Ozark Division tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 11-13 Regional Championship on Lake Barkley in Kuttawa, Ky. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.

The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and compete to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for the BFL All-American. The 2012 BFL All-American is being held May 17 – 19 on the Potomac River in National Harbor, Md. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the FLW Tour.
