BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — In February 2013 Cliff Pace of Petal, Miss., won the Bassmaster Classic after bringing the heaviest bass to the scales during three days of competition in Tulsa, Okla. This year a new field of 50-plus fishermen will vie for the top prize in bass fishing, and two lucky fans will be there in person to see a new champion crowned.
Birmingham is headquarters for B.A.S.S. and the site of the 2014 Bassmaster Classic, which will be held on Lake Guntersville, Feb. 21-23, 2014. It’s also the destination for the grand prize winner of the Bassmaster Classic VIP Sweepstakes presented by the Alabama Bass Trail.
Between now and Oct. 31, 2013, bass fishing fans can go online and register to win a trip for two to the 2014 Bassmaster Classic in Birmingham. The trip begins Feb. 20 and ends Feb. 24. The prize package includes hotel accommodations for four nights, local transportation, VIP seating at the weigh-ins and special access to the Bassmaster Classic Expo.
In addition, the grand prize winner will receive $1,000 cash and special promotional items from the Alabama Bass Trail (ABT). The ABT received the state’s Tourism Partnership Award in August and was created to promote recreational and competitive bass fishing on key reservoirs and rivers throughout the state.
