Chevy Truck Pro Staff members Larry Nixon, Kevin VanDam, Kim Stricker and Tom Mann; Jr. will be among the 46 contenders competing for the $100,000 top prize at the Classic. While these four pros are on the water, Classic fishing fans can collect a boatload of tips on catching bass and towing their boats from three other Chevy Truck Pro Staff members who are some of the best known and brightest minds in the sport. Roland Martin has nine B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year titles to his name, qualified 22 times for the BASS Masters Classic, and is host of the long running "Fishing with Roland Martin" TV show. Jimmy Houston is a 2-time B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year, a 15-time qualifier for the BASS Masters Classic, and host of "Jimmy Houston Outdoors" and "Jimmy's Outdoor World" TV shows. David Fritts is the 1993 Classic Champion, a 5-time Classic contender, and the 1994 B.A.S.S. Angler of the Year. Meet these accomplished pros and television outdoor stars in the Chevy Truck display in the Classic Outdoor Show. They will be autographing their pro cards, posing for photos, and answering questions about fishing techniques.
Martin will be in the Chevy Truck display Friday (July 21) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday (July 22) from 10 a.m. to noon; and Sunday (July 23) from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Houston is scheduled to appear on Thursday (July 20) from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon; Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.; and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 12 noon. Fritts will be in the Chevy Truck display on Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
In addition to sharing their fishing tips, the Chevy pros will be happy to provide towing tips accrued from towing a bass boat more than 50,000 miles a year - more than most fishermen will pull a boat in their lifetime. For the pros, towing their boats to tournaments presents a challenge on occasion. During the tournament season, these pros travel over all types of terrain, from mountains to deserts, and encounter all forms of weather hazards, from ice storms to blazing heat.
