Glenn: How do you pick out a backlash? All right. Well, this is actually a pretty easy way to do it. First of all, what you do is you crank down really hard on your drag. Then you firmly place your thumb on the spool and crank as hard as you can. What you're doing here is you're actually reversing the direction in which the loops were formed, and you're pushing that backlash, reversing it, actually pushing it out. And you'll be surprised at how well that untangles a backlash.
