Sellers Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Eufaula

EUFAULA, Ala. (June 6, 2005) - Boater Carlos Sellers of Phenix City earned $4,368 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Dixie Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Eufaula. The tournament was the fourth of five regular-season Dixie Division events and featured 143 boaters vying for the win, which earned Sellers 200 points in the Boater Division.

   Seller's winning catch of five bass weighed 19 pounds, 9 ounces. Sellers was flipping a worm around shallow grass when he caught his bass.

   Finishing second was Dalton Bobo of Northport with five bass weighing 17 pounds, 6 ounces that earned him $2,184. Don Oswalt of Mc Calla claimed $1,427 as the third-place finisher thanks to four bass weighing 16 pounds, 6 ounces. In fourth was Frank Eslinger of Lagrange, Ga., with five bass weighing 16 pounds, 3 ounces worth $1,112, and finishing fifth and earning $913 was Nicholas Turner of Jones with five bass weighing 15 pounds, 12 ounces.

   Turner earned an additional $750 as winner of the Ranger Cup and Powered by Yamaha awards.

   Dan Johnson of Griffin, Ga., took Boater Division big-bass award honors, earning $715 for a 7-pound, 8-ounce bass. He caught his big bass on a Carolina-rigged worm.

   Bruce Frazier of Newnan, Ga., bested 143 Co-angler Division competitors to earn $2,184 as the co-angler winner, thanks to five bass weighing 12 pounds, 1 ounce that he caught on a spinnerbait.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Aaron Bigham of Defuniak Springs, Fla. (three bass, 9 pounds, 10 ounces, $1,092); Shawn Marquis of Columbus, Ga. (two bass, 9 pounds, $715); Scott Curvin of Jacksonville (five bass, 8 pounds, 15 ounces, $556); and Danny Pollard of Wetumpka (three bass, 8 pounds, 10 ounces, $457).

   Bigham earned $358 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 5-pound, 14-ounce bass he caught on a tube.

   The Dixie Division will wrap up its regular season Sept. 24-25 with a two-day Super Tournament on Logan Martin Lake near Pell City.
