Brummett Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes

BUCHANAN, Tenn. (June 19, 2006) - Boater Scott Brummett of Brentwood, Tenn., earned $4,155 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes. The tournament was the fourth of five regular-season Music City Division events and earned Brummett 200 points in the Boater Division.

   Brummett's winning catch of five bass weighed 23 pounds, 1 ounce. He was throwing a combination of jigs and worms in 18 to 25 feet of water on ledges around the north end of Kentucky Lake to catch his bass. Brummett also took home an additional $1,000 for being the highest placing Ranger Cup participant and $570 for boater division big bass award winner.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are J McMillon of Dayton, Tenn. (five bass, 19 pounds, $2,078); Jason Sain of Beechgrove, Tenn. (five bass,16 pounds, 9 ounces, $1,383); Brad Knight of Wartburg, Tenn. (five bass, 15 pounds, 13 ounces, $970); and Sam Lashlee of Camden, Tenn., tied for fifth with Mike Ward of Paris, Tenn. (five bass, 15 pounds, 12 ounces, $796).

   Jeff Minchey of Westmorland, Tenn., won the Co-angler Division to earn $2,078 as the co-angler winner, thanks to five bass weighing 17 pounds, 3 ounces that he caught on a 10-inch worm.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Ben Lawwell of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (four bass, 14 pounds, 13 ounces, $1,039); Craig Allen of Lebanon, Tenn. (five bass, 14 pounds, 12 ounces, $691); Chris Haynes of Nashville, Tenn. (five bass, 12 pounds, 15 ounces, $485); and Billy Brewer of Lyles, Tenn. (five bass, 11 pounds, 15 ounces, $416).

   Lawwell also earned $285 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass he caught on a 1/2 ounce spinnerbait.

   The Music City Division's next event will be the two-day Super Tournament held Sept. 30-Oct. 1 on Old Hickory near Gallatin, Tenn.
