KUTTAWA, Ky. (Sept. 26, 2005) - Boater Scott Brummett of Brentwood, Tenn., earned $6,084 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League LBL Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Kentucky/Barkley lake. The tournament earned Brummett 300 points in the Boater Division.
Brummett's winning catch of 10 bass weighed 35 pounds, 13 ounces. He threw spinnerbaits to catch his bass. Brummett earned an additional $1,500 as winner of the Ranger Cup and Powered by Yamaha awards plus $1,000 as winner of the Garmin Grand award.
Finishing second was Billy Schroeder of Paducah with 10 bass weighing 31 pounds, 9 ounces that earned him $2,970. Ramie Colsen Jr. of Cadiz claimed $1,449 as the third-place finisher thanks to 10 bass weighing 30 pounds, 5 ounces. In fourth was Bobby Kilzer of Paris, Tenn., with 10 bass weighing 28 pounds, 3 ounces worth $1,304, and finishing fifth and earning $1,159 was Matt Bryan of Ledbetter with 10 bass weighing 24 pounds, 5 ounces.
Philip Robinson of Ashland took Boater Division big-bass award honors, earning $1,180 for a 5-pound, 14-ounce bass. He caught his big bass on a Jimbo jig.
Michael Smith of Pickerington, Ohio, earned $3,042 as the co-angler winner, thanks to 10 bass weighing 29 pounds, 7 ounces that he caught on a Venom jig.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are James Backer of Henderson (nine bass, 26 pounds, 11 ounces, $1,485); Adam Bruggenschmidt of Evansville, Ind. (seven bass, 19 pounds, 4 ounces, $724); Keith Claridge of Oakland City, Tenn. (six bass, 17 pounds, 13 ounces, $652); and Larry Martin of Clarksville, Tenn. (six bass, 16 pounds, 6 ounces, $579).
Thomas Boschert of New Athens, Ill., earned $590 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 5-pound, 6-ounce bass he caught on a 10-inch worm.
Following the regular season, the LBL Division boater with the most points will earn $1,000 as the Yamaha "Be the Best" points champion. The co-angler amassing the most points will earn $500 as the Yamaha "Be the Best" points champion in the Co-angler Division.
The top 40 LBL Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will advance to the Lake Cherokee Regional near Morristown, Tenn., Oct. 4-8 where they will compete against Buckeye, Illini, and Piedmont division anglers for one of six slots in the 2006 All-American.
