PERCY PRIEST, Tenn. (March 8, 2003) - Scott Lefevers of Mount Juliet topped 114 Bass Fishing League competitors Saturday on Percy Priest Lake with four bass weighing 12 pounds. The catch earned him $3,330 and 200 points in the Boater Division.
Lefevers's catch topped second-place boater Jason Pernell of White Bluff by 2 ounces. Pernell finished the one-day tournament with a five-bass catch weighing 11 pounds, 13 ounces worth $1,665. Lynn McWhorter of Algood earned a $500 bonus from Ranger for being the highest-finishing participant in the Ranger Cup incentive program. Greg Fender of Odin, Ill., earned $570 as the big-bass winner thanks to a 5-pound, 11-ounce bass.
Ashley Hayes of Rockvale (five bass, 11 pounds, 9 ounces, $1,132); Clifford Dunn of Lascassas (five bass, 10 pounds, 8 ounces, $866); and Carl Freeman of Portland (five bass, 10 pounds, 5 ounces, $732) rounded out the top five boaters.
Phillip White of Kingston Springs claimed first place and $1,665 in the 114-competitor Co-angler Division with five bass weighing 10 pounds, 5 ounces. He surpassed second-place co-angler Bob Furstenberg of Old Hickory by 1 ounce. Furstenberg finished with a four-bass catch weighing 10 pounds, 4 ounces worth $832.
Randy Vassar of Woodbury (two bass, 8 pounds, 5 ounces, $566); Danny Boggs of Fayetteville (three bass, 6 pounds, 15 ounces, $433); and Billy Burgess of Hendersonville (two bass, 6 pounds, 14 ounces, $366) rounded out the top five co-anglers.
Ricky Moore of Antioch earned big-bass honors and $285 in his division with a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass.
