Cummings Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake St. Clair

MT. CLEMENS, Mich. (June 26, 2006) Boater Derek Cummings of Eaton Rapids, Mich., earned $4,119 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Michigan Division bass fishing tournament on Lake St. Clair. The tournament was the second of five regular-season Michigan Division events and earned Cummings 200 points in the Boater Division.

   Cummings winning catch of five bass weighed 20 pounds, 9 ounces. Cummings also took home an additional $565 for winning the Boater Division big bass award with a 5-pound, 9-ounce bass.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Charles Lowery of Montrose, Mich. (five bass, 18 pounds, 12 ounces, $2,059); Donald Hewkin of Zion, Ill. (five bass, 18 pounds, 3 ounces, $1,374); Eric Bond of Ferndale, Mich. (five bass, 17 pounds, 15 ounces, $961); and David Green of South Lyon, Mich. (five bass, 17 pounds, 14 ounces, $824).

   Lowery also took home an additional $500 for being the highest placing Ranger Cup participant.

   Robert Mann of Windsor, Ontario, won the Co-angler Division to earn $2,059 thanks to five bass weighing 17 pounds, 9 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are David Foster of Fenton, Mich. (five bass, 16 pounds, 15 ounces, $1,030); Devon Banks of Dearborn Heights, Mich. (five bass, 16 pounds, 11 ounces, $687); Nicholas Ryan of Holt, Mich. (five bass, 15 pounds, 13 ounces, $480); and Scott Leo of Grand Rapids, Mich. (five bass, 15 pounds, 5 ounces, $412).

   Mathew Pams of Clawson, Mich., earned $282 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 5-pound, 4-ounce bass.

   The Michigan Divisions next event will take place on the Grand River near Grand Haven, Mich., July 29 followed by an event Aug. 26 on the Detroit River near Trenton, Mich. The Michigan Division will wrap up its regular season Sept. 9-10 with a two-day Super Tournament, the divisions fifth and final event, on the Detroit River near Trenton.
