PALATKA, Fla. (June 7, 2004) - Boater Division competitor Jerry Tice of Chipley earned $2,540 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Seminole Division bass fishing tournament on the St. Johns River in Palatka. The tournament was the fourth of five regular-season Seminole Division events. The regular season will wrap up Sept. 11-12 with a two-day Super Tournament that will be held on Lake Seminole in Bainbridge, Ga.
Tice caught a five-bass limit weighing 16 pounds, 8 ounces on buzzbaits and crankbaits in the Crescent Lake area, and he caught an 8-pound, 15-ounce bass that earned him $375 as the Boater Division big-bass award winner. He also earned $1,000 from Ranger Boats as the highest-finishing participant in the Ranger Cup incentive program, and he earned another $500 from Yamaha because his boat is powered by a Yamaha outboard.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Fred Chivington Jr. of Welaka (five bass, 15 pounds, 8 ounces, $1,270); David Stephens of Palm Coast (five bass, 14 pounds, 5 ounces, $864); Kelly Borgh of Silver Springs (four bass, 14 pounds, 2 ounces, $660); and Steve Bushore of Bainbridge, Ga. (five bass, 13 pounds, 7 ounces, $559).
Kenneth Hunnicutt of Jacksonville claimed the Co-angler Division win with a five-bass catch weighing 13 pounds, 7 ounces. He caught his tournament-winning bass on a black and blue Paddletail worm and earned $1,270 for the win.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Frank Jordan of Bainbridge, Ga. (two bass, 10 pounds, 1 ounce, $635); Al Davis III of Jacksonville (four bass, 9 pounds, 15 ounces, $432); Ben Broughton of Day (five bass, 9 pounds, 10 ounces, $330); and Ray Kirkland of Wausau (four bass, 8 pounds, 2 ounces, $279).
Davis caught a 6-pound, 2-ounce bass to win Co-angler Division big-bass honors and $188. He caught his big bass on a worm.
