Bass Fishing Community Reacts to Carl Maxfield's Death

The BASS family is deeply saddened by the sudden passing of South Carolina pro Carl Maxfield. Maxfield competed in his first BASS event in 1976 and became a full-time pro in 1991. During his bass fishing career he garnered 10 top 10 finishes, including a win at the 2000 Maryland Bassmaster Top 150 event on the Potomac River. Maxfield appeared in the Bassmasters Classic twice in his career, in 2000 and 2002. Maxfield was 126th in the current Busch BASS Angler of the Year points standings. He is survived by his wife, Toni, his sons, Michael and Adam Grayson, and his daughter, Amanda.

Carl was always real positive and gave me good advice, just like a true friend would. My heart goes out to his family."

Carl went out of his way to help his fellow anglers when they were in need of help. He was a true gentleman. His passing will hit the sport harder than we realize."
