AUGUSTA, Ga. (Sept. 12, 2005) - Boater Lamontie Walters of Warner Robbins earned $5,356 Saturday as winner of the Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Clarks Hill Lake. The tournament earned Walters 300 points in the Boater Division. He earned an additional $1,000 as winner of the Ranger Cup award.
Walters?s winning catch of 10 bass weighed 19 pounds, 3 ounces. He threw Zoom worms in shallow creek channels to catch his bass.
Finishing second was Kim Carver of Milledgeville with 10 bass weighing 17 pounds, 12 ounces that earned him $2,614. Kip Carter of Oxford claimed $1,275 as the third-place finisher thanks to 10 bass weighing 16 pounds, 1 ounce. In fourth was Richard Parson of Lithia Springs with eight bass weighing 15 pounds, 11 ounces worth $1,148, and finishing fifth and earning $1,020 was Charles Stevenson of Albany with eight bass weighing 15 pounds, 5 ounces.
Stevenson took Boater Division big-bass award honors, earning $960 for a 4-pound, 5-ounce bass.
George Goodman Jr. of Monticello earned $2,678 as the co-angler winner, thanks to seven bass weighing 13 pounds, 11 ounces that he caught on a jig.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Clark Harper of Eatonton (eight bass, 13 pounds, 4 ounces, $1,307); Dennis Hudson of Fortson (seven bass, 12 pounds, $638); Mike Mahady of Kennesaw (seven bass, 11 pounds, 9 ounces, $574); and Joel Milner of Talbotton (eight bass, 10 pounds, 15 ounces, $510).
Paula Alexander of Lincolnton earned $480 as the co-angler big-bass award winner with a 5-pound, 2-ounce bass she caught on a watermelon seed trick worm.
Following the regular season, the Bulldog Division boater with the most points will earn $1,000 as the Yamaha ?Be the Best? points champion. The co-angler amassing the most points will earn $500 as the Yamaha ?Be the Best? points champion in the Co-angler Division.
The top 40 Bulldog Division boaters and co-anglers based on year-end points standings will advance to the Lake Toho Regional near Kissimmee, Fla., Oct. 4-8 where they will compete against Bama, Seminole and South Carolina division anglers for one of six slots in the 2006 All-American.
