COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 10, 2003) - The Wal-Mart Supercenter at 360 Harbison Blvd. will celebrate families, fishing and fun with the FLW Tour Family Fun Zone from 3 to 5 p.m. Friday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday. The free family event features interactive games and product displays for fishing fans of all ages.

The Family Fun Zone offers families the opportunity to participate in an array of exciting, hands-on activities - often alongside professional anglers - and to sample FLW Outdoors' sponsor products.

"Fishing is a fun, family experience, and the Family Fun Zone is a perfect combination of fishing and family entertainment for all of our customers to enjoy," said Don Johnson, Wal-Mart store manager.

Scheduled activities include the Fujifilm Fishing Pond and J.J. "The Dancing Machine," who performs and teaches the latest dance moves. Children can join in the dancing by playing Musical Fish and Twister for the chance to win great prizes from Frito-Lay. Frito-Lay's mascot for its Chee-tos snacks - Chester the Cheetah - will be in the crowd for photo opportunities, too.

Children also have the chance to win prizes playing Banana Boat's tabletop Plinko game. Other activities to entertain the family include 7 UP's timed basketball-hoops game and the Minn Kota inflatable slide.

The Fun Zone offers fishing enthusiasts a chance to meet some of the nation's top anglers, receive expert fishing advice and collect autographs. Select members of the Castrol, Fujifilm, Kellogg's, Land O'Lakes, Lawry's, 7 UP, Snickers and Stanley pro angling teams will be on hand. Kellogg's will also have its NASCAR trailer, which features NASCAR video games, on site for all to enjoy. Those interested in engines will be treated to displays of the latest Yamaha and Evinrude outboards. And when Family Fun Zone visitors need a break from the action, Land O'Lakes offers cookies and cheese for all to taste.

"Fishing is one of the nation's largest participatory sports," said Charlie Hoover, president and CEO of FLW Outdoors. "It's a family-oriented activity that people from all walks of life can enjoy. The Family Fun Zone is a great way for the next generation to be introduced to the world of fishing and have fun while they learn."
