MINNEAPOLIS (Oct. 27, 2003) - In its continuing effort to bring professional bass fishing to the masses, FLWOutdoors.com announced Monday that FLW Live, its new technology that allows competitive-fishing enthusiasts to get real-time weigh-in results, will be available for the EverStart Series Championship in Tennessee on Old Hickory Lake Wednesday through Saturday.
Wednesday's and Thursday's weigh-ins will start at 3 p.m. Central time; Friday's weigh-in will begin at 5 p.m.; and Saturday's weigh-in will start at 3 p.m. An Internet link to FLW Live is located at FLWOutdoors.com in the right-hand navigation bar.
The new technology delivers results instantly from the weigh-in stage to the Web site so fans can experience the weigh-in as it happens. FLW Live brings real-time audio of the play-by-play as host Charlie Evans talks with the anglers weighing in their bass. FLW Live is perfect for the person with a casual interest in tournament results as well as the families and fans of professional anglers who cannot attend a tournament. Anyone with Internet access can now experience the play-by-play action through this program.
"FLW Live helps broaden our audience by introducing new fishing fans to the sport," said Irwin Jacobs, chairman of FLW Outdoors. "This innovative technology will revolutionize tournament fishing while increasing exposure for our anglers and sponsors alike."
FLW Live gives by-the-second updates of pro and co-angler standings and features a photo of the angler weighing in. The site has live audio so visitors can listen to anglers' comments as their catch weights are recorded. The pro and co-angler leaderboards are constantly updated. Visitors are also able to search for any angler to get a specific day's weigh-in results.
"We really had the tournament fan in mind when we developed the program, while hoping it would pique the interest of other visitors who have never experienced an FLW Outdoors weigh-in," said Bill Petrowiak, vice president of marketing and communications for FLW Outdoors. "FLW Live is a great way for FLWOutdoors.com visitors to stay on top of the action. It also allows the anglers' families to be virtually involved with the tournament when they are not able to be there in person."
