Pure Fishing Renews Sponsorship of FLW Outdoors

MINNEAPOLIS (Jan. 21, 2003) - Pure Fishing, the world's largest fishing-tackle company, has signed a sponsorship deal with FLW Outdoors. In 2003 Pure Fishing - the trade-name umbrella over the Abu Garcia, Berkley and Mitchell brands - will enter into its fifth year as an FLW Outdoors sponsor.

   Pure Fishing has a saying: "The angler is our boss." This equates to 55 million Americans who pick up rods each year and head out to waters across the country. Through its sponsorship of FLW Outdoors, Pure Fishing has the opportunity to continue to gain insight into anglers and their requirements out on the water.

   "To be the best in our business, we need to know and anticipate what anglers want and need from their fishing equipment," said Bill Schumacher, director of marketing for Pure Fishing.    Berkley, one of America's most popular tackle brands, can be seen on five of FLW Outdoors' tournament trails, including the $5.76 million Wal-Mart FLW Tour, the world's most lucrative bass-tournament series; the $3.88 million EverStart Series, the pathway to the FLW Tour; the $6 million Wal-Mart Bass Fishing League for weekend anglers; the $1 million Wal-Mart Texas Tournament Trail; and the $3.07 million Wal-Mart RCL Walleye Tour, the world's most lucrative walleye-tournament series. Abu Garcia, known for its precision in fishing-reel development, will be featured on the FLW Tour, EverStart Series, BFL and TTT. Mitchell, a brand with the tradition of quality, can be seen on the RCL Tour.
