BENTONVILLE, Ark. (March 6, 2003) - Country music superstar Tracy Byrd will entertain fishing fans during one of the FLW Tour's most renowned events, the Open. Those attending the event's weigh-in on Friday, April 11, will enjoy a free live performance from Byrd at the Wal-Mart Supercenter located at 2110 W. Walnut in Rogers. The free concert will begin at approximately 6:30 p.m. immediately after the tournament weigh-in.
Byrd, who is a multi-platinum recording artist with numerous hits under his belt, will also be available to sign autographs from 4-5 p.m. at the Family Fun Zone, a free family event featuring interactive games and product displays for people of all ages. Fans will also be able to purchase Byrd's latest album, "Ten Rounds," the eighth album in a successful career that has spanned more than a decade.
"Byrd Watchers," as his fans are affectionately known, can expect to hear smash singles including "Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous," "Keeper of the Stars," "Just Let Me Be In Love," "Ten Rounds," and his new hit single "The Truth about Men."
"I have always loved to fish and hunt," Byrd said, explaining his genuine love for the outdoors. "It's my No. 1 passion, next to family and music." That passion is not only evident in his music but also in the singer's devotion to certain charities. With the help of Bill Norman Lures of Fort Smith, Ark., Byrd sports his own line of fishing lures called Tracy Byrd's Lifestyles of the Not So Rich and Famous Crankbaits. Ten cents from the sale of each lure is donated to Special Olympics.
"Country music and fishing go hand in hand," said Charlie Hoover, president and CEO of FLW Outdoors. "The free concert is an excellent opportunity to thank the fans of professional bass fishing who come from miles away to attend our Family Fun Zone and watch the tournament weigh-ins. We are thrilled to have Tracy perform."
