We hate to bring bad news, but the fishing industry has lost a legend. It's hard to write about the passing of a good friend. And even harder for a good friend who was also a good man, a great husband, and terrific role model. Such was Aaron Martens. At the age of 49, "A-Mart", as many knew him, succumbed to Glioblastoma after a 19 month heroic battle.
Words cannot capture the positive impact Aaron had on millions of anglers across the globe. We're simply at a loss for words.
Aaron began fishing at the prodding of his mother, Carol. Soon they were fishing together as a team, rising among the ranks to become fierce competitors up and down the west coast. Their success launched both their careers as pre-eminent professional anglers. Aaron become known for his meticulous approach to bass fishing, diving deep in to every detail and facet to become one of the world's top professional anglers.
For those that knew him, perhaps Aaron was best known for his kindness and willingness to help others.
Aaron is survived by his wife Lesley, his children Jordan and Spencer, and his mother Carol. A GoFundMe account has been set up to help his family with expenses.
May you rest in peace, dear friend. You did more to help the world than most of us could ever hope to do.
