LEEDS, Ala. (Aug. 25, 2005)- Aaron Martens has been the highlight of many professional bass fishing headlines this year.
None more significant than his victory celebration after claiming the 2005 Bassmaster Angler of the Year on the final day of the final Bassmaster Tour stop at Missouri's Table Rock Lake earlier this year.
Now, ardent Bassmaster fans can get the inside scoop on Martens at citgoangleroftheyear.com. The site is chock full of information, from what his winning patterns were to what's in his CD player now. Fans can also submit questions directly to Aaron for him to answer in his monthly newsletter. Three questions will be selected each month.
"I really want to hear from the fans," Martens said. "I'm not sure many people really know a lot about me. This newsletter is a great way for fans to interact with me and it often gives them a behind the scenes look at things."
In the newest edition of his newsletter for September, Martens describes his disappointment after coming up a mere six ounces shy of winning this year's Classic. It was his third-straight, second-place finish.
"I thought it was impossible to get three second (place finishes) in the Bassmaster Classic - but I just proved it wasn't," Martens said to the AOY Newsletter. "I know second is a good place to be in, but I think it's just the first-place loser. Nobody remembers who finishes second, so it hurts in that way as well."
