Alabama Bass Trail to Give Away $10,000 in Scholarships to Student Anglers

Decatur, Ala. (February 18, 2014) – The Alabama Bass Trail and the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation (ACNRF) are pleased to announce the availability of scholarship money for student anglers for the 2013-14 academic year. Student anglers graduating in May 2014, may apply for one of ten $1,000 scholarships to use to continue their studies at a college or university of their choice. Applications are available in the conservation and education section of the Alabama Bass Trail’s website beginning today and the deadline to apply is April 18, 2014.

The ten scholarships are available for any student fishing the Alabama Student Angler Bass Fishing Association (ASABFA). Each scholarship is valued at $1,000. To apply, students must complete an application and submit it along with a resume. Applicants will be judged on participation in the ASABFA, academic performance, community involvement, and conservation participation.

“The Alabama Bass Trail is proud to partner with the Alabama Conservation and Natural Resources Foundation to recognize outstanding student anglers who spend their time in the outdoors. Their dedication to the sport of bass fishing and to their respective communities are a model for all of us to follow,” said Alabama Bass Trail Program Director Kay Donaldson.

Applications are available in the conservation and education section (found under About the Trail heading) of the Alabama Bass Trail’s website at www.alabamabasstrail.org, and must be returned to Alabama Bass Trail, Attention: Scholarship Committee, P.O. Box 2537, Decatur, Ala. 35602 no later than April 18, 2014. Scholarships will be awarded at the ASABFA Championship dinner on Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Gadsden, Ala.
