SPIRIT LAKE, IOWA - Abu Garcia introduces the new Cardinal 600 series of spinning reels, the lightest and strongest reels in their class. The Cardinal 600 combines an outstanding appearance with the latest technology that delivers an extremely strong reel that is 20% lighter than comparable reels.

The Cardinal 600 features the patented Stamina drag system, with 240 percent more drag surface than conventional drags. Located at the base of the spool, the easy-access Stamina drags produce 35 percent less heat than competitive models. The smooth and powerful drag is created with multi-disc Teflon and graphite with stainless components.

The one-piece aluminum stem/gear box maintains gear alignment for the life of the reel. Five bearings enhance the reels ultra-smooth performance. Line is evenly placed on the spool with the even-line-lay oscillation system. The oversized line roller prevents line twist and fatigue during take up.

Each reel comes with the Mega-Distance casting system including an aluminum spool with the quick disconnect feature. Spools are skirted to prevent line tangles along the shaft.

Anglers will appreciate powerful hooksetting advantage of the Instant Anti-Reverse which can instantly be turned off or on and the EZ Access gearing. Removing only three screws allows easy maintenance without losing gear alignment. The reversible aluminum handle is finished with a comfortable soft touch knob.

The 6.0-ounce Cardinal 600U ultra-light model has a gear ratio of 4.8:1 and 100 yards of 4-pound test monofilament can be loaded. The Cardinal 602 weighs 7.8 ounces, has a gear ratio of 5.1:1 and holds up to 110 yards of 8-pound test monofilament.

The suggested retail price of either Cardinal 600 series spinning reel is $54.95.
