Each year, the Arkansas Fish and Wildlife Commission Fisheries Division conducts two large-scale fish habitat projects to restore and enhance aquatic habitat around the state. During these projects, biologists converge onto a waterbody to improve or establish as much fish habitat as possible in the allotted time frame. The AGFC previously conducted large-scale fish habitat projects on Bull Shoals and Norfork Lakes in 2017 and 2018.

During the weeks of November 29 and December 6, the AGFC participated in a two-week large-scale fish habitat project on Beaver Lake. AGFC staff cut cedar trees from sites designated by the USACE and then sunk them at marked fish habitat sites. During this project, crews sunk close to 900 trees at 145 habitat sites.

"We are grateful to participate in this worthwhile project, which should improve fishing success on Beaver Lake for many years to come."
