MONTGOMERY, Ala. - Jan. 7, 2003 - Berkley has become an official sponsor of the Bassmaster Tournament Trail and the Bassmasters Classic for the year 2003. Under the sponsorship, Berkley Trilene will become "The Official Line," Berkley Power Bait will become "The Official Bait," and Berkley Frenzy will become "The Official Lure," of the Bassmaster Tournament Trail and Bassmasters Classic.

"Berkley and B.A.S.S. have both enjoyed a tradition of working closely together and now, with our sponsorship of the Bassmaster Tournament Trail and Bassmasters Classic, the synergies of the two organizations will truly be enhanced," said Pure Fishing CEO Tom Bedell. "We are excited about the opportunities that will result with our sponsorship. Our ability to communicate with bass anglers has been very strong and this will serve to take that communication to the next level. We not only want to communicate with anglers about our products, but more importantly want to listen to anglers about their needs and what they are looking for in their bass angling."

Established in 1937, Berkley is recognized as one of the world's leading producers of technologically superior fishing products that are designed and engineered to "Catch More Fish." Berkley operates under the trade umbrella name of Pure Fishing, and has committed significant resources to research and development.   "We are delighted that Berkley has become a sponsor of the Bassmaster Tournament Trail and Bassmasters Classic," said B.A.S.S. vice president and general manager Dean Kessel. "With our new tournament formats and heightened events, and now Berkley coming on as a sponsor, 2003 is going to be very exciting for our membership."
