Arkansas - Recently the Lowe's Home Improvement store in Conway donated approximately 150 unsold Christmas trees to be used for fish habitat. AGFC had the trees delivered to the park at Beaverfork Lake along with a pallet of concrete blocks. Central Arkansas Fisheries Biologists decided to give the public an opportunity to place as many brush piles as they like with the provided trees and blocks. After two weeks, District 10 and District 4 biologists worked together to place the remaining 50 trees in one pile on the old road bed adjacent to the submerged bridge in Beaverfork Lake.

During the winter months, the shad and crappie stack up in the deeper water and the elevated road bed in this area. This should make for a good community fishing hole. The coordinates for this new brush pile (N 35.14166, W 092.44668) and previously deployed structures can be found on the AGFC Interactive Mapper.
