CADIZ, Ky. (May 12, 2008) - Boater Keith Iddins of Knoxville, Tenn., and Johnie McIver of Eddyville, Ky., won the Bass Fishing League LBL Division bass fishing tournament on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes Saturday with five-bass catches weighing 20 pounds, 6 ounces. The victory earned both Iddins and McIver $3,186 and placed them one step closer to qualifying for the Cherokee Lake Regional Championship in Morristown, Tenn., Oct. 16-18, where they could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Iddins used a green-pumpkin Pop-R and Brush Hog along the bank below Devil's Elbow to catch his bass.
Also fishing banks below Devil's elbow, McIver caught his limit in about 8 feet of water with a black and brown jig.
Rounding out the top five boaters are David Young of Mayfield, Ky. (five bass, 18-15, $1,574); Daniel Langton of Haubstadt, Ind. (five bass, 17-11, $1,101 and Harry Barber of Madisonville, Ky. (five bass, 17-07, $944).
Iddins took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $695 for a 6-pound, 15-ounce bass he caught on green-pumpkin Pop-R.
Danny Kincaid of Benton, Ky., earned $2,360 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four bass weighing 14 pounds, 12 ounces that he caught in both shallow and deep water on a green-pumpkin jig on the south end of Lake Barkley.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Dennis Taylor of Fulton, Ky. (five bass, 14-09, $1,180); Brian Dillard of Bowling Green, Ky. (five bass, 14-05, $787); Ben Helmerich of Murray, Ky. (four bass, 13-10, $551) and Kris Effinger of Evansville, Ind. (five bass, 12-13, $472).
Michael Hooper of LaGrange, Ky. earned $347 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 11-ounce bass he caught on a jerk bait fishing rocky points.
The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Hardin, Ky., June 14. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Gilbertsville, Ky., Sept. 20-21.
