GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2009) - Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League final LBL Division bass fishing tournament on Kentucky/Barkley Lakes Sunday with nine bass weighing 33 pounds, 9 ounces. The victory earned Anderson $5,270 and helped him qualify for the Mississippi River Regional Championship in Fort Madison, Iowa, Oct. 1-3, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Billy Schroeder of Paducah, Ky. (nine bass, 31-15, $2,635); Michael McAtee of Waverly, Ky. (nine bass, 30-6, $1,758); David Young of Mayfield, Ky. (seven bass, 29-8, $1,230) and Mike Terry of Troy, Tenn. (nine bass, 27-9, $1,054).
Anderson took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $675 for a 6-pound, 9-ounce bass he caught.
Wilby Hawkins of Hickory, Ky., earned $2,635 as the co-angler winner Sunday thanks to eight bass weighing 22 pounds that he caught on 10- and 15-inch worms in grass.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Tim Garner of Carol Stream, Ill. (five bass, 21-2, $1,317); Brendan Murphy of Cape Girardeau, Mo. (seven bass, 19-6, $880); J.R. Grundy of Greenville, Ky. (seven bass, 18-8, $615); and Jeff Scrimager of Matoon, Ill. (six bass, 17-11, $527).
Garner earned $337 as the co-angler Folgers Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 1-ounce bass.
