Sykora Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament On Lake Barkley

KUTTAWA, Ky. (Oct. 15, 2012) – Marcus Sykora of Osage Beach, Mo., won the Bass Fishing League (BFL) Regional on Lake Barkley with a three-day total of 15 bass totaling 48 pounds, 4 ounces. For his victory, Sykora won a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard plus a Chevy 1500 Silverado and entry into the BFL All-American. This regional bass fishing tournament featured the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers from each of the Buckeye, Great Lakes, Michigan and Ozark divisions.

     

     The top six boaters that qualified for the BFL All-American were:

            1st:    Marcus Sykora, Osage Beach, Mo., 15 bass, 48-4, Ranger Z518 with 200-horsepower outboard + Chevy 1500 Silverado.

            2nd:   Mike Brueggen, La Crosse, Wis., 15 bass, 42-10, $1,500.

            3rd:   Jeff Ritter, Prairie Du Chien, Wis., 15 bass, 42-4, $1,100.

            4th:    Jeremy Lawyer, Sarcoxie, Mo., 12 bass, 41-15, $1,000.

            5th:    Tim Wilson, Gas City, Ind., 15 bass, 40-5, $900.

            6th:    Brian Fitzpatrick, La Crosse, Wis., 14 bass, 39-10, $800.

     Rounding out the top 10 pros were:

            7th:    Mark Flick, Plainwell, Mich., 14 bass, 39-8, $700.

            8th:    Mark Dove, North Vernon, Ind., 15 bass, 39-1, $650.

            9th:    Chris Aswegan, Lisbon, Iowa, 15 bass, 38-7, $600.

            10th: David Young, Mayfield, Ky., 12 bass, 36-10, $550.

     Christian Burzynski of Milwaukee, Wis., won the Co-angler Division with a three-day total of 12 bass totaling 27 pounds, 5 ounces. For his efforts, Burzynski took home a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard along with a berth in the BFL All-American.

     The top six co-anglers that qualified for the BFL All-American were:

            1st:    Christian Burzynski, Milwaukee, Wis., 12 bass, 27-5, Ranger Z518 with 200-horsepower outboard.

            2nd:   Jason Howland, Albert Lea, Minn., 10 bass, 26-2, $750.

            3rd:   Dewey Larson, Fayetteville, Ark., 10 bass, 21-15, $550.

            4th:    Marvin Anderson, Russell Springs, Ky., nine bass, 21-0, $500.

            5th:    Craig Hulsey, Park Hills, Mo., six bass, 20-8, $450.

            6th:    David Goodyear, Beloit, Wis., eight bass, 19-12, $400.

     Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

            7th:    Jason Swanson, Waterloo, Iowa, seven bass, 19-6, $350.

            8th:    Mike Jones, Okeana, Ohio, nine bass, 19-1, $325.

            9th:    Dewayne Eck, Butler, Ind., nine bass, 18-6, $300.

            10th: James Kelley, Maryland Heights, Mo., six bass, 16-7, $275.

     The BFL is a 24-division circuit devoted to weekend anglers, with 120 tournaments throughout the season, five in each division. The top 40 boaters and co-anglers from each division qualify for a regional tournament and compete to finish in the top six, which then qualifies them for the Walmart BFL All-American. Top winners in the BFL can move up to the EverStart Series or even the FLW Tour.
