Young Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Barkley/Kentucky Lakes

GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 22, 2008) - Boater David Young of Mayfield, Ky., won the Bass Fishing League LBL Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Barkley/Kentucky Lakes with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 36 pounds, 3 ounces. The victory earned Young $4,518 plus a $797 Ranger bonus.

Young said he caught his fish shallow in the morning and deep in the afternoon on a Norman DD22 crankbait.

Rounding out the top five boaters are Billy Schroeder of Paducah, Ky. (nine bass, 28-15, $2,658); Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tenn. (10 bass, 28-04, $1,774); Ray Barga of Gilbertsville (10 bass, 26-09, $1,240) and Sam Henry of Murray, Ky. (10 bass, 25-14, $1,063).

Schroeder took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $667 for a 5-pound, 4-ounce bass that he caught.

Dan Basham of Louisville, Ky., earned $2,658 as the co-angler winner thanks to eight bass weighing 22 pounds, 4 ounces that he caught while fishing a Carolina rig on ledges.

Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Corey Jones of Jackson, Tenn. (eight bass, 19-14, $1,329); Johnnie Devine of Mt. Washington, Ky. (seven bass, 18-12, $886); Kirk Holland of Arlington, Ky. (eight bass, 17-06, $620) and David Harris of Mayfield, Ky. (six bass, 14-13, $532).

Kevin McCullough of Greencastle, Ind., earned $334 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 3-ounce bass.
