LOG CABIN, Texas (May 18, 2009) - David Waller of Fort Worth, Texas, won the Bass Fishing League Cowboy Division bass fishing tournament on Cedar Creek Saturday with a five-bass limit weighing 15 pounds, 15 ounces. The victory earned Waller $2,250 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the DeGray Lake Regional Championship in Arkadelphia, Ark., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Russell Lee of Ennis, Texas (five bass, 14-9, $1,125); Rich Dalbey of Greenville, Texas (five bass, 13-0, $750); Paolo Pike of Killeen, Texas (five bass, 12-4, $525) and Charles Yowell of Allen, Texas (five bass, 11-11, $450).
Waller took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $225 for a 5-pound, 5-ounce bass.
James Moore Jr. of Lampasas, Texas, earned $1,125 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four bass weighing 9 pounds, 6 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Tracy Hawkins of Forney, Texas (three bass, 7-13, $562); Delwyn Sims of Montalba, Texas (three bass, 7-8, $376); and Dustin Robison of Anacoco, La. (four bass, 6-5, $225).
Hawkins and Brian Liles of Texarkana, Ark., each earned $56 as the co-angler Big Bass winners with a pair of 3-pound, 6-ounce bass they caught.
The next Cowboy Division event, a two-day Super Tournament, will be held on Lake Texoma in Denison, Texas, Sept. 19-20.
