SPARTA, Tenn. (April 28, 2008) - Boater Brent Sain of Manchester, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Center Hill Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 18 pounds, 8 ounces. The victory earned Sain $2,979 plus a $525 Ranger contingency bonus and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Wheeler Lake Regional Championship in Decatur, Ala., Oct. 9-11, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Sain used a couple of different styles of baits to catch his limit, including a Carolina-rigged watermelon red ring fry and a small watermelon red lizard he rigged on a football-head jig.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Josh Tramel of Smithville, Tenn. (five bass, 18-5, $1,753); Anthony Nash of Quebeck, Tenn. (five bass, 17-8, $1,169); Matt Stanley of Sparta, Tenn. (five bass, 17-1, $818) and Trent Peterson of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 15-15, $701).
Steve Greene of Lebanon, Tenn., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $440 for a 5-pound, 11-ounce bass he caught on a jig. Mason Boldin of Smithville, Tenn., earned $1,753 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 12 pounds, 1 ounce that he caught fishing a grape-colored floating worm near wood cover.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Chuck Paison of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 11-9, $876); John Elliott of McMinnville, Tenn. (five bass, 10-14, $585); David Marr of Cleveland, Tenn. (five bass, 10-9, $409) and Jason Larkin of White House, Tenn. (four bass, 10-1, $351).
Mike Hillenbrand of Hendersonville, Tenn., earned $220 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 4-pound, 3-ounce bass on a creature bait. Music City Division anglers will visit Kentucky Lake in Buchanan, Tenn., June 21 for their fourth regular-season event. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Percy Priest Lake in Smyrna, Tenn., Sept. 13-14.
