HARRISON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (Aug. 11, 2008) - Boater Chip Harrison of Bremen, Ind., won the Bass Fishing League Michigan Division bass fishing tournament on the St. Clair River Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 24 pounds. The victory earned Harrison $3,727, plus a $657 Ranger Bonus, and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Cherokee Lake Regional Championship in Morristown, Tenn., Oct. 16-18, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Jim Hull of Sidney, Ohio (five bass, 22-05, $2,193); Jared Rhode of Port Clinton, Ohio. (five bass, 21-00, $1,463); Brent Dunmyer of Weston, Ohio (five bass, 20-15, $1,023) and Mike Crisp of Union Grove, Wis. (five bass, 20-08, $877).
Harrison took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $620 for a 5-pound, 6-ounce bass.
Bob Eastman of Hartland, Mich., earned $2,193 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 19 pounds, 8 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Marvin Lewis of Benton, Ark. (five bass, 19-00, $913); Rick Roberts of Macomb, Mich. (five bass, 19-00, $913); Dennis Marcinek of Chicago, Ill. (five bass, 18-08, $512) and Justin Brandenburg of Richmond, Ky. (five bass, 17-14, $439).
David Jacob of La Salle, Mich., earned $310 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 5-ounce bass.
The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on the Detroit River in Trenton, Mich., Aug. 30. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on the Detroit River in Trenton, Mich., Sept. 27-28.
