Attaway Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Clarks Hill Lake

MCCORMICK, S.C. (June 15, 2009) - Norm Attaway of Clearwater, S.C., won the Bass Fishing Leagu South Carolina Division bass fishing tournament on Clarks Hill Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 11 pounds, 6 ounces. The victory earned Attaway $3,592 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Norman Regional Championship in Lake Norman, N.C., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

   Attaway said he caught the majority of his bass fishing points with a trick worm.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Danny Kirk of Bartow, Ga. (five bass, 11-2, $1,796); Brian Huskins of Mount Holly, N.C. (four bass, 10-12, $1,201); Ronnie McCoy of Lamar, S.C. (five bass, 10-7, $838) and Bo Reed of Lincolnton, Ga. (four bass, 10-4, $718).

   Joseph Toth of Richmond Hill, Ga., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $460 for a 4-pound, 15-ounce bass he caught.

   Michael Royals of Chapin, S.C., earned $1,796 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 9 pounds, 5 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Bobby Henderson of Charlotte, N.C. (three bass, 9-4, $898); Daniel Jordan of Hartsville, S.C. (five bass, 8-3, $508); Brian Ruppe of Irmo, S.C. (four bass, 8-3, $508); and Robert Derrick Jr. of Charlotte, N.C. (three bass, 8-1, $359).

   Bobby Henderson of Charlotte, N.C., earned $230 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass.

   The final regular-season South Carolina Division tournament, a two-day Super Tournament, will be held on Lake Hartwell in Seneca, S.C., Oct. 3-4.
