Trombly Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on the Detroit River

TRENTON, Mich. (Sept. 29, 2008) - Boater Michael Trombly of Perrysburg, Ohio, won the Bass Fishing League Michigan Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Detroit River with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 40 pounds even. The victory earned Trombly $4,578 plus an $808 Ranger bonus.

   Trombly said he cranked a tube on the north shore of Lake Erie to catch his limits of bass.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are David Hasty of Toledo, Ohio (10 bass, 39-03, $2,694); David Reault of Livonia, Mich. (10 bass, 38-13, $1,795); Donald Hewkin of Zion, Ill. (10 bass, 37-06, $1,257) and Todd Schmitz of Goshen, Ind. (10 bass, 36-12, $1,077).

   Schmitz took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $690 for a 6-pound bass that he caught on a spinnerbait in 2 feet of water.

   Brian Clark of Ceresco, Mich., earned $2,694 as the co-angler winner thanks to 10 bass weighing 35 pounds, 12 ounces that he caught on a drop shot-rigged Gulp! minnow.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Dan Mundy of Montrose, Mich. (10 bass, 34-10, $1,347); Jeff Turner of Plainfield, Ill. (10 bass, 32-01, $899); Freddy Adkins of East Bernstadt, Ky. (10 bass, 31-02, $628) and Erik Jacques of Harrison Township, Mich. (nine bass, 31-02, $539).

   Mundy earned $345 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass by throwing a drop shot-rigged Gulp! minnow.
