EUFAULA, Okla. (April 6, 2009) - Mike Tyner of Stillwater, Okla., won the Bass Fishing League Okie Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Eufaula Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 18 pounds, 10 ounces. The victory earned Tyner $3,889 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the DeGray Lake Regional Championship in Arkadelphia, Ark., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Tyner caught his bass fishing the main lake throwing a silver and gold spinnerbait.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Matthew Emmons of Tulsa, Okla. (five bass, 17-10, $1,944); John Garcia of Mustang, Okla. (three bass, 17-6, $1,297); Walter Andries of Coweta, Okla. (five bass, 16-12, $907) and Edward Broaddrick of Tulsa, Okla. (five bass, 16-0, $778).
Garcia took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $525 for a 7-pound, 9-ounce bass he caught.
Donny Murrell of Sapulpa, Okla., earned $1,944 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four- bass weighing 15 pounds, 10 ounces that he caught flipping a worm.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Eric Dodson of Lindsay, Okla. (five bass, 12-6, $972); Kevin Berry of Gentry, Ark. (three bass, 11-12, $649); Jeffrey Bullinger of Sapulpa, Okla. (three bass, 10-6, $454); and Aaron Warren of Moore, Okla. (five bass, 9-5, $389).
Murrell earned $262 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 4-pound, 10-ounce bass.
The next Okie Division event will be held on the Fort Gibson Lake in Wagoner, Okla., May 2.
