Andries Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Eufaula

EUFAULA, Okla. (April 7, 2008) - Boater Walter Andries of Coweta, Okla., won the Bass Fishing League Okie Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Eufaula Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 22 pounds, 5 ounces. The victory earned Coweta $4,012 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Ouachita Regional Championship in Mount Ida, Ark., Oct. 23-25, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck. Andries caught his bass flipping a jig in water near the dam.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Raymond Renfroe of Delaware, Okla. (five bass, 21-14, $2,360); Kirk Washburn of Harrah, Okla. (five bass, 17-10, $1,574); Nick Aber of Piedmont, Okla. (five bass, 14-06, $1,022) and Greg Dorris of McAlester, Okla. (five bass, 14-06, $1,022).

   Andries took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $695 for a 7-pound, 7-ounce bass he caught on a jig.

   Derek Holmes of Broken Arrow, Okla., earned $2,360 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four bass weighing 11 pounds, 9 ounces.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Mark Ross of Idabel, Okla. (five bass, 10-15, $1,180); Mark Henning of Oklahoma City, Okla. (two bass, 8-14, $787); Andrew Havens of Broken Arrow, Okla. (three bass, 7-14, $551) and Will Skucius of Pittsburg, Kan. (two bass, 7-03, $472).

   Henning earned $347 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 8-ounce bass he caught on a lipless crankbait.
