EUFAULA, Ala. (June 22, 2009) - Kim Carver of Milledgeville, Ga., won the Bass Fishing League Bulldog Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Eufaula Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 21 pounds even. The victory earned Carver $5,024 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Seminole Regional Championship in Bainbridge, Ga., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Carver said he used a Zoom crankbait on main-lake ledges to catch his fish.
Rounding out the top five boaters are James Grogan of Fort Mitchell, Ala. (five bass, 20-9, $2,512); Tom Hamlin Jr. of Lizella, Ga. (five bass, 19-5, $1,674); Scott Montgomery of Eufaula, Ala. (five bass, 19-2, $1,172); and Dan Crowe of Winder, Ga. (five bass, 19-1, $1,005).
Darryl Stewart of Slocomb, Ala., won the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $775 for a 6-pound, 2-ounce bass.
Tony Wooten of Dublin, Ga., earned $2,512 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 21 pounds, 9 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Billy Cain of Jackson, Ga. (five bass, 17-9, $1,256); Sonny Benton of Columbus, Ga. (five bass, 16-12, $838); Clifford Avery of Bonaire, Ga. (five bass, 15-9, $586); and Ken Myers of Sharpsburg, Ga. (five bass, 14-14, $502).
Wooten earned $387 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass.
The next Bulldog Division event will be held on Lake Sinclair in Milledgeville, Ga., Oct. 3-4.
