Williams Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Ferguson

GREENVILLE, Miss. (Sept. 8, 2008) - Boater Alfred Williams of Jackson, Miss., won the Bass Fishing League Mississippi Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Ferguson with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 27 pounds, 1 ounce. The victory earned Williams $4,417 and a $779 Ranger bonus. Williams said he caught his fish on a shaky-head worm and a crankbait near mid-lake islands, small rock piles and points in 4 to 9 feet of water.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Jimmy Williams of Thomaston, Ala. (10 bass, 25-06, $2,598); Wayne Fowler of Terry, Miss. (10 bass, 25-01, $1,733); Mark Jones of Carriere, Miss. (10 bass, 24-03, $1,213) and Jason Cordell of Pelahatchie, Miss. (10 bass, 23-03, $1,039).

   Ronnie Wall of Boyle, Miss., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $652 for a 5-pound, 9-ounce bass that he caught on a jig.

   Joel Ross of Brandon, Miss., earned $2,599 as the co-angler winner thanks to nine bass weighing 22 pounds, 1 ounce that he caught on a Texas-rigged soft plastic creature bait fished on mid- and upper-lake ledges.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Justin Atkins of Columbus, Miss. (10 bass, 21-13, $1,299); John Breeden of Brandon (10 bass, 21-10, $867); Eddie Laster of Morton, Miss. (nine bass, 20-04, $606) and Jim Uselton of Lake Village, Ark. (eight bass, 19-09, $520).

   Brad Stuart of Philadelphia, Miss., earned $326 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 3-ounce bass on a shaky-head worm.
