GROVE, Okla. (Sept. 8, 2008) - Boater Jason Christie of Park Hill, Okla., won the Bass Fishing League Okie Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Grand Lake with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 33 pounds, 6 ounces. The victory earned Christie $4,896 plus a $864 Ranger bonus.
Christie said he caught his fish in the mid-lake area of Grand and used a soft plastic crawdad to catch the majority of his fish.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Joel Baker of Talala, Okla. (10 bass, 28-03, $2,880); Wade Ramsey of Newalla, Okla. (10 bass, 27-02, $1,921); Craig Smith of Dewey, Okla. (eight bass, 27-00, $1,344) and Andy Littlejohn of Commerce, Okla. (10 bass, 26-13, $1,152).
Smith took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $765 for a 6-pound, 1-ounce bass that he caught.
Steve Bradfield of Claremore, Okla., earned $2,759 as the co-angler winner thanks to 10 bass weighing 25 pounds, 1 ounce that he caught while fishing a shaky-head worm and a jig.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Butch Baker of Tulsa, Okla. (eight bass, 22-11, $1,379); Travis Fox of Springdale, Ark. (nine bass, 22-05, $919); Dennis Williams of Oklahoma City, Okla. (eight bass, 18-10, $644) and Allen Organ of Van Buren, Ark. (nine bass, 18-09, $552).
John Anderson of Barnsdall, Okla., earned $360 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 3-ounce bass.
