Lance Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Kissimmee River

SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (Feb. 11, 2008) - Boater Davey Lance of Hartselle, Ala., won the Bass Fishing League Bama Division bass fishing tournament on Lake Guntersville Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 23 pounds, 6 ounces. The victory earned Lance $4,261 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Murray Regional Championship in Columbia, S.C., Oct. 23-25, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

   Rounding out the top five boaters are Jerry Wells of Flat Rock, Ala. (five bass, 21-14, $2,507); Taylor Leathers of Florence, Ala. (five bass, 21-08, $1,670); Ob Wilborn of Stevenson, Ala. (five bass, 20-07, $1,170) and Marty Colley of Ashville, Ala. (five bass, 20-06, $1,003). Leathers took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $765 for a 8-pound, 14-ounce bass.

   Matthew Embry of Munford, Ala., earned $2,507 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to four bass weighing 24 pounds, 6 ounces that he caught pattern.

   Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Jay Fagan of Mableton, Ga. (five bass, 19-03, $1,253); Thomas Helton of Charleston, Tenn. (five bass, 18-13, $837); Trevis Towe of Daleville, Va. (five bass, 16-09, $585) and Josh Fordham of Glencoe, Ala. (five bass, 16-08, $501).

   Embry earned $382 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 9-pound, 1-ounce bass.

   Bama Division anglers will visit Lay Lake in Clanton, Ala., April 12 for their second regular-season event, followed by an event on Neely Henry Lake in Gadsden, Ala., May 10. The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on Logan Martin Lake in Pell City, Ala., June 14. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Wheeler Lake in Decatur, Ala., Sept. 27-28.
