SCOTTSBORO, Ala. (Sept. 22, 2008) - Boater Randall Tharp of Gardendale, Ala., won the Bass Fishing League Choo Choo Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on Lake Guntersville with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 43 pounds, 13 ounces. The victory earned Tharp $5,840.
Tharp said he caught his limit of bass by targeting isolated grass mats with a black soft plastic frog.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Johnny Patterson of Grant, Ala. (10 bass, 42-11, $3,436); David Gray of Section, Ala. (10 bass, 41-09, $2,290); Eric Brasington of Adairsville, Ga. (10 bass, 40-08, $1,603) and Michael Seeley of Section, Ala. (10 bass, 38-00, $1,374).
Timothy Williams of Opelika, Ala., took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $1,012 for a 6-pound, 9-ounce bass that he caught. Kent Lodari of Seymour, Tenn., earned $3,436 as the co-angler winner thanks to nine bass weighing 29 pounds, 14 ounces that he caught while fishing a soft plastic frog.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Wayne Kilgore of Attalla, Ala. (10 bass, 28-08, $1,718); Randall Munn of Jasper, Tenn. (eight bass, 24-03, $1,145); Rob Flowers of Lawrenceburg, Ind. (seven bass, 22-09, $802) and Philip Perkins of Gadsden, Ala. (eight bass, 20-00, $687).
Kilgore and Frelon Moore of Albertville, Ala., each earned $253 as the co-angler Big Bass winners after catching a pair of 5-pound, 15-ounce bass.
