GALLATIN, Tenn. (March 30, 2009) - Adam Wagner of Cookeville, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Music City Division bass fishing tournament on Old Hickory Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 20 pounds, 11 ounces. The victory earned Wagner $3,592 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Clarks Hill Lake Regional Championship in Appling, Ga., Oct. 15-17, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Wagner said he caught the majority of his bass on a 3/8-ounce jig while flipping mid-lake docks and wood.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Scott Lefevers of Hermitage, Tenn. (five bass, 19-1, $1,796); Jeff Baker of Hendersonville, Tenn. (five bass, 17-3, $1,201); Matt Stanley of Alexandria, Tenn. (five bass, 16-12, $838) and Pat Hatcliff of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 16-6, $718).
Hatcliff took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $460 for a 6-pound, 13-ounce bass he caught on a Rapala Shad Rap.
Dave Shadwick of White House, Tenn., earned $1,796 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 12 pounds, 6 ounces. Shadwick said he caught his bass on a Rat-L-Trap fished around grass.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Robin Phillips of Smithville, Tenn. (five bass, 11-7, $898); Darryl Humphrey of Murfreesboro, Tenn. (five bass, 10-11, $598); Craig Allen of Lebanon, Tenn. (five bass, 9-13, $419); and Van Davidson of Tullahoma, Tenn. (four bass, 9-7, $359).
Paul Strege of Deerfield, Wis., earned $230 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 6-pound, 4-ounce bass on a crankbait.
The next Music City Division event will be held on Center Hill Lake in Sparta, Tenn., April 18.
