BYRDSTOWN, Tenn. (April 6, 2009) - Jack Poindexter of Livingston, Tenn., won the Bass Fishing League Mountain Division bass fishing tournament on Dale Hollow Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 18 pounds, 7 ounces. The victory earned Poindexter $4,763 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Lake Norman Regional Championship in Lake Norman, N.C., Oct. 22-24, where he could ultimately win a new Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Poindexter caught his limit fishing the Wolf River in 3 to 4 feet of water slow rolling a spinnerbait.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Tim Reagan of Livingston, Tenn. (five bass, 15-8, $2,381); Joseph Stalcup of Burkesville, Ky. (five bass, 15-2, $1,585); H.C. Sumpter of Nancy, Ky. (four bass, 12-14, $1,111) and Bill Day of Frankfort, Ky. (five bass, 12-7, $953).
Doug Ramsey of Somerset, Ky., took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $710 for a 6-pound bass he caught.
Robert Hood of Somerset, Ky., earned $2,348 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 14 pounds, 14 ounces that he caught on a black-and-blue Strike King jig.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Michael May of Richmond, Ky. (five bass, 11-10, $1,174); Kyle Christopher of Irvine, Ky. (five bass, 9-13, $781); William Sentell of Clinton, Tenn. (three bass, 8-10, $548) and Brandon Walker of Harriman, Tenn. (four bass, 8-8, $470).
Michael May earned $350 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 2-ounce bass.
The next Mountain Division event will be held on the Lake Cumberland in Monticello, Ky., May 2.
