GILBERTSVILLE, Ky. (March 17, 2008) - Boater Tommy Williams of Shepherdsville, Ky., won the Bass Fishing League LBL Division bass fishing tournament on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 23 pounds, 10 ounces. The victory earned Williams $5,007 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Cherokee Lake Regional Championship in Morristown, Tenn., Oct. 16-18, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Brent Anderson of Kingston Springs, Tenn. (five bass, 23-06, $2,945); Daniel Fischer of Shepherdsville, Ky. (five bass, 23-03, $1,964); Joel Trovillion of Grantsburg, Ill. (five bass, 20-00, $1,374 and Tim Rhoades of Leitchfield, Ky. (five bass, 19-06, $1,178).
Trovillion and Phillip Tidwell of Dyersburg, Tenn. took home Boater Division Snickers Big Bass awards, earning $487 for 6-pound, 11-ounce bass. Jacob Zeigler of Herrin, Ill., earned $2,945 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 18 pounds, 8 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Barry Baldwin of Dayton, Ohio (five bass, 17-04, $1,473); Ben Deblois of Wheaton, Ill. (five bass, 16-11, $981); Jeff Oaks of Medway, Ohio (five bass, 15-10, $687) and Darren New of New Castle, Ind. (five bass, 15-06, $589).
Phil Crofoot of Mayfield, Ky. earned $487 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 8-pound, 14-ounce bass.
LBL Division anglers will visit Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Gilbertsville, Ky., April 12 for their second regular-season event, followed by an event on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Cadiz, Ky., May 10. The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Hardin, Ky., June 14. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Kentucky and Barkley Lakes in Gilbertsville, Ky., Sept. 20-21.
