HARDIN, Ky. (May 19, 2014) – Sam Boss of Paducah, Ky., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 21 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League LBL Division tournament on Kentucky and Barkley lakes. For his victory, Boss earned $4,271.

“I fished ledges with a sexy chartreuse-colored Strike King Pro Model 6XD in 15 to 18 feet of water,” said Boss. “I located six schools of fish in practice on Friday and I was able to get on three of them in the tournament. There were boats on the other three. I basically caught all my fish on two of those spots.

“I was a little concerned about the weather,” added Boss. “I was catching postspawn fish and we had a cold front come in. But I didn’t have any trouble with the weather. There wasn’t a lot of wind so that made it easy to fish out in the open and the cold front didn’t turn the fish off.

“I started catching fish out on the ledges about a week and a half ago. The ledge-fishing will get really good here in a couple weeks,” finished Boss. “I really didn’t think I had enough weight to win because there are a lot of good fishermen in these BFL events.”
