HENDERSON, N.C. (March 3, 2008) - Boater Danny Haire of Yadkinville, N.C., won the Bass Fishing League Shenandoah Division bass fishing tournament on Kerr Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 17 pounds, 8 ounces. The victory earned Haire $3,823 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Albemarle Sound Regional Championship in Elizabeth City, N.C., Oct. 9-11, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.

Rounding out the top five boaters are Rodney Sorrell of Stokesdale, N.C. (five bass, 17-04, $2,249); Chris Bullock of Fountain, N.C. (four bass, 14-15, $1,498); Mike Altizer of Vinton, Va. (five bass, 14-12, $1,050) and Tony Woodard of Four Oaks, N.C. (five bass, 14-06, $900).
David Perdue of Wirtz, Va. took home the Boater Division Big Bass award, earning $645 for a 6-pound, 8-ounce bass he caught on a Rapala Shad Rap.
Roger Longwell of Lostcreek, W.Va., earned $2,214 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 13 pounds, 8 ounces that he caught on a Rapala Husky Jerk.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Doug Larson of Suffolk, Va. (three bass, 9-12, $1,107); Jim Stephenson of Stuarts Draft, Va. (three bass, 8-08, $738); Daniel Mox of Glen Burnie, Md. (four bass, 8-06, $517) and John Chandler of Lovettsville, Va. (three bass, 8-02, $443).
Stephenson earned $317 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 7-ounce bass he caught on a Lucky Craft Shad Rap.
Shenandoah Division anglers will visit Smith Mountain Lake in Moneta, Va., April 5 for their second regular-season event, followed by an event on the Potomac River in Woodbridge, Va., May 17. The division's fourth qualifying event will be held on the James River in Richmond, Va., June 21. A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on the Potomac River in Woodbridge, Va., Sept. 13-14.
