Smiley Wins Bass Fishing League Tournament on Lake Cherokee

MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (June 10, 2013) – Tim Smiley of White Pine, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 17 pounds, 6 ounces Saturday to win the Bass Fishing League Volunteer Division tournament on Lake Cherokee. For his victory, Smiley earned $5,677.

 Rounding out the top 10 pros were:

            2nd:   Rex Pendergrass, Bristol, Tenn., five bass, 15-12, $1,689

            3rd:   Kenneth Owens, Wise, Va., five bass, 15-4, $1,128

            4th:   Ken Vicchio, Bluff City, Tenn., five bass, 13-15, $788 + $300 Evinrude Bonus

            5th:   Tory Ferrell, Morristown, Tenn., five bass, 13-12, $675

            6th:   Keith Iddins, Knoxville, Tenn., five bass, 13-10, $619

            7th:   Burton Bryan, Sevierville, Tenn., five bass, 13-7, $563

            8th:   Wayne Coppage, Jonesboro, Tenn., five bass, 13-5, $507

            9th:   Jimbo Harris, Maryville, Tenn., five bass, 13-2, $422

            9th:   David Mullins, Mount Carmel, Tenn., five bass, 13-2, $422

Matt Brown of Harriman, Tenn., weighed a five-bass limit totaling 13 pounds, 11 ounces Saturday to win $1,689 in the co-angler division.  Rounding out the top 10 co-anglers were:

            3rd:   Navada Smith, Rogersville, Tenn., five bass, 12-1, $564

           4th:   Kibbee McCoy, Crossville, Tenn., five bass, 10-15, $394

            5th:   Josh Russell, Lafollette, Tenn., four bass, 9-4, $338

            6th:   Colby Frost, Abingdon, Va., three bass, 9-2, $310

            7th:   William King, Maryville, Tenn., four bass, 9-1, $281

            8th:   Brandon McKamey, Clinton, Tenn., four bass, 9-0, $253

            9th:   Wes Ratcliff, Knoxville, Tenn., four bass, 8-8, $225

The final BFL Volunteer Division tournament of 2013 is scheduled for Sept. 21-22 on Watts Bar Lake in Rockwood, Tenn. After the last divisional tournament is complete, the top 40 boaters and 40 co-anglers based on point standings will qualify for the Oct. 17-19 Regional Championship on Lake Hartwell in Lavonia, Ga. Boaters will compete for a top award of a Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard and a Chevy Silverado, while co-anglers will fish for a new Ranger Z518 with a 200-horsepower Evinrude or Mercury outboard.
