PELL CITY, Ala. (July 14, 2008) - Boater Jack White of Tuscaloosa, Ala., won the Bass Fishing League Dixie Division bass fishing tournament on Logan Martin Lake Saturday with a five-bass catch weighing 14 pounds, 1 ounce. The victory earned White $3,734 and placed him one step closer to qualifying for the Wheeler Lake Regional Championship in Decatur, Ala., Oct. 9-11, where he could ultimately win a new 198VX Ranger boat and a Chevy truck.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Ricky Dale Smith of Ohatchee, Ala. (five bass, 13-01, $2,197); Charles Pearson Jr. of Opelika, Ala. (five bass, 12-15, $1,464); Blake Parker of Harpersville, Ala. (five bass, 12-06, $1,025) and Larry Ellison of Robertsdale, Ala. (five bass, 12-02, $879). White took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $630 for a 4-pound, 12-ounce bass he caught throwing a worm.
Allen Pair of Leeds, Ala., earned $2,197 as the co-angler winner Saturday thanks to five bass weighing 11 pounds, 11 ounces that he caught on the main river throwing a crankbait.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Scott Curvin of Jacksonville, Ala. (five bass, 9-11, $1,098); Randy Hill of Jonesboro, Ga. (five bass, 9-00, $623); Joey Yasinski of Senoia, Ga. (five bass, 9-00, $623) and Mike Haisten of Dothan, Ala. (five bass, 8-11, $439).
Mark Chadwick of Birmingham, Ala., earned $315 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 5-pound, 9-ounce bass he caught on a jig.
A two-day Super Tournament, the division's fifth and final event, will be held on Lay Lake in Columbiana, Ala., Sept. 6-7.
