LACROSSE, Wis. (Sept. 15, 2008) - Boater Dan McGarry of Tomah, Wis., won the Bass Fishing League Great Lakes Division Super Bass Fishing Tournament on the Mississippi River with a two-day catch of 10 bass weighing 33 pounds, 3 ounces. The victory earned McGarry $4,896 plus a $864 Ranger contingency bonus.
Rounding out the top five boaters are Dan Thill of LaCrosse, Wis. (10 bass, 33-03, $2,880); Jimmy Johnson of LaCrosse, Wis. (10 bass, 33-02, $1,921); Jesse Kassera of Sparta, Wis. (10 bass, 31-05, $1,344) and Craig Jahnke of Appleton, Wis. (10 bass, 30-13, $1,152).
Johnson took home the Boater Division Snickers Big Bass award, earning $765 for a 4-pound, 15-ounce bass.
Brett Payton of Waterloo, Iowa, earned $2,880 as the co-angler winner thanks to 10 bass weighing 27 pounds, 12 ounces.
Rounding out the top five co-anglers are Tim Willihnganz of Waunakee, Wis. (nine bass, 24-04, $1,440); Chad Kerr of Burlington, Iowa (10 bass, 23-12, $962); Richard Conrad of Hudson, Wis. (10 bass, 22-15, $672) and Dave Knutstrom of Stronghurst, Ill. (nine bass, 22-11, $576).
Michael Huffman of Fort Madison, Iowa, earned $382 as the co-angler Big Bass winner after catching a 4-pound, 14-ounce bass.
